Cash jail

In 3 years with X amount of money in my savings account, I have earned $14.78. With a monthly compounded interest rate of 0.1% how much money did I have initially? I'm just kidding this isn't one of those dumb problems that they made you do in middle school, but isn't that sad? I earn more by going to work for an hour. Excellent economy. CD rates are nearly the same as a regular savings account so there's no point in locking up your money for an extra five cents.

My apartment is turning into a mini recording studio. I'm contemplating buying drums. Beautiful right? My contemplation is the equivalent of it sitting in the shopping cart. I wonder where my conscience has gone... I used to feel bad about spending thousands of dollars, but now I just don't care. Maybe this yolo thing is starting to get to me.
